Observation is a fairly common word. Think about how you use it in everyday language and where you consciously speak of observing.

In Switzerland there is a magazine called Beobachter (www.beobachter.ch). The purpose of this magazine is to report on the background to abuses in Switzerland.

The observer-journalists thus "observe" phenomena and explain how they arise - and sometimes (rather rarely) what can or rather should be done about them.
