Ben Shneiderman (1947) ist Informatiker am Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory. Zusammen mit I. Nassi hat er 1972 das Nassi-Shneiderman-Diagramm zur Darstellung der Struktur eines Programmes entworfen. (Struktogramm)

1982 begann er an der Universität von Maryland mit der Entwicklung von TIES (The Interactive Encyclopedia System), welches später als Hypertext-System Hyperties bekannt wurde.
