Pamela is the author or co-author of eight books, including The Future of Women (Addison-Wesley), an exploration of four alternative scenarios for women, supported by a report from the Fourth U.N. World Conference on Women in Beijing. Five of Pamela's other books are focused on the intellectual impact of computing, especially aspects of artificial intelligence. They include Machines Who Think, The Fifth Generation and Aaron's Code. Her other two works are novels. Pamela has consulted for a wide range of firms in the high technology, financial, and transportation sectors. She is vice president of the authors' organization PEN American Center where she headed its long-range planning committee.
